Seachem - Matrix & De*nitrate media ?

Does anyone have any experience with Seachem Matrix or De*nitrate media? I was curious if it works at all to help reduce nitrate levels? I have an Eheim Wet/Dry canister filter with 3 media baskets. My plan is to leave one with the Eheim media, one filled with the Matrix media, and the last filled with the De*nitrate media. Thanks!

i do not think you need to use both matrix and de nitrate.
i use the denitrate in one canister basket, but I will try matrix next.
In my 3 i have the sponges for first stage mechanical filtration, then the eheim pro substrate then kent denitrate.
It does not replace water changes in reducing nitrate, but it still helps, and is much better then using bioballs in those chambers.

I plan to use both because the De*nitrates says "flow rate should not excede 50gph" and if it does to use Matrix. Since the filter does an empty and fill routine I am hoping that I can get away with it, but using the matrix as a back up just in case. They both offer a little different filtration, so I figured why not give it a try. Yes, I still do my monthly or bi-weekly water changes.

I use matrix on all my tanks. All that is a form of media that is very porus. It gives more room per square inch for beneficial bacteria to grow. I have 0-0-0 test results on one 55 gallon heavy planted tank and a55 gallon reef tank.

Thanks for the input and info! From what I read you are right about the Matrix, and the De*nitrate will actually chemically absorb some nitrate. I am going to go home tonight, take my nitrate reading, then change out the media baskets. I will check every few days and report back and let everyone know how it works.
