it is a 3" skimmer with a maxi jet after all. If Octopus or ASM had a 3" body skimmer nobody would expect much from it. If you put its performance in the context its suppose to be viewed as it works fine WHEN you get it working optimally. the main issues are it lacks water height adjustability (which I'm sure is on purpose since the design is impossible to overflow) and its loud which is why I put it in the sump where it certaintly works much better (should be no suprise removing a foot of tubing between the pump and skimmer and surface skimming overflows provide).
I got about 30 more of these for anybody who says they dont work. and these are weekly results from a 30g reef not overstocked dirty or a large aquarium.
