SeaClone Modifications 101

just a few days ago the MJ1200 stock pump shorted out and I've replaced it with an aquaclear 70/802. This new unit runs at 400 gph! Months ago I cut the inner riser out and shortened the collection riser.

now I've added a rubber gasket around the base of the collection cup. This seals off that air-gap that many have mentioned. Performance seems to have improved some more. I would say that if you HAVE a Seaclone you can tweak it and make it work. But if you DONT have one, get something else. Maybe a Coralife.
SO far mine has: Small riser tube at base of reaction chamber removed
Collection cup riser shortened as well as cup itself shortened
Brass air control valve replaced stock plastic junk unit
Gasket on bottom of cup
Aquaclear 70 powerhead replaced stock pump
It DOES work. Granted I only use it on a 30 gallon Live Rock tank, lightly loaded.
