micro bubbles wont be an issue assuming its going in the sump (never had more than temperary issues with micro bubbles hung on back). the question becomes why are you looking at a seaclone. there are much better skimmers to be had. I ran one successfully on a 30g and it worked fine (HOB and sump). I have a 30g now with 10g sump but with much better affordable options I use an Octopus now. Lets be honest anything that works at all will suffice for a 29g. I would step up a level if possible (octopus NW110, AquaEuro PS55, ASM mini). If your getting the seaclone cheap (<$50) might as well go for it. the Maxi-jet 1200 pump it comes with itself goes for $20 new and is a fine pump even if you toss the seaclone.

thanks! the valve was there for no reason, just carelessness lol. that tank was from years ago and had the simplest equipment and the easiest stuff to keep (and my first attempt at a reef) but its probably the nicest tank I've had. just goes to show its not all about equipment and how fancy the corals are.

Stanalee, very nice tank! Not cluttered like my tank is.
On the Seaclone, I have used one for a number of years and it has worked very well for me, consistently pulling lots of gunk out of the water in my 55gal tank (first FOWLR, now reef). The only "issue" I have had is that the foam pre-filter on the MJ1200 has to be cleaned regularly and the air valve has to be periodically adjusted. Now that my algae is under control, and I only have 5 small fish in the tank, I haven't had to do even that maintenance recently.
So yeah, if you get it at a good price I say use it but be prepared to keep an eye on it until it settles in and starts working for ya.
