I'm wondering why taking care of a Sea Horse tank is so much work? More work than taking care of a Reef tank? If you got a pair that eats frozen foods...is maintenance so much more complex than any other salt aquarium??

yeah i was pretty surprised myself when i saw it in the tank. the rock was in a bag with water so i'm guessing that's how he survived the trip from the lfs. the rock has a lot of pores in it. he must have been hiding in there. i didn't acclimate him or anything because i didn't know he was there until later on that night. this is seriously a very hardy seahorse if i do say so myself.

Seahorses are very delicate creatures. They need the best of care, including pristine water conditions, that means ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates 0. They're very very sensative to any kind of water fluctuation, which will stress them out and most likely kill them. They have to be fed live foods 2X's daily, unless you can ween them on frozen foods, but nevertheless must be fed twice a day. In order to keep the tank's parameters at such a perfect level, a lot of time is required.
definately more work than a reef tank, IMO, as most corals are hardier than seahorses.
i'd say it's not more complex, it's just more time consuming.

I would put reefs as more difficult personally....There is more testing and partameters involved to keep optimal. But the hore tanks require a lot of cleaning. Maybe they are on par with each other.....
