Seahorse is Gone

Romeo did not make it through the night. Valiant is alone again and I am left wondering what I could have done differently.

I'm so sorry.
The truth probably is that you could not have done more than you did.
I recall you saying that Romeo was the last seahorse available after you got Valiant. So he was at the LFS for 2 weeks or more? Not to lay blame on a doorstep, but LFS don't tend to these horses they way they should. If they are fed only frozen brine for that long, they will be under-nourished. Most LFS won't go the extra pennies to feed them mysis.
It is also true that getting a seahorse to go from live food to frozen, it can be just as difficult to switch them from frozen brine to mysis. Truthfully, even switching the BRAND of frozen mysis, some seahorses will refuse to recognize the new brand as food.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I've been following your seahorse threads and you really tried hard to save him so don't beat yourself up over it, just learn from it and try again.

Thanks Ponie, I'll miss the little guy. The most positive thing I can take away from this is that I have learned many things about the care and diseases of seahorses. I'm just sorry that Romeo was the one to teach me.
Yes, I got Romeo aprox 2 weeks after getting Valiant; and unfortunately most LFS do exactly what you mentioned to save a few measley pennies. From now on I will order my horses straight from Hawaii. That way there will be no lag time hanging around in the LFS.
Thank you very much for you help and support.

sorry for your loss. I have been there.
there are a couple of places better to order the hawiaii. They are very expensive and their customer service is really bad i have heard. there is a place closer to you i believe, and have great customer service.

Please, don't feel sorry....I am very greatful for the information that you/everyone has provided. With the limited information that is available about the care of seahorses, Romeo would have certainly have been doomed. But because of the information and personal experience we share. More and more SW hobbyist will be succesful, as well as the animals. I'll miss the little guy, but as I said earlier the most positive thing I can take away from this is that I have learned many things about the care and diseases of seahorses.
Thankyou for your help, and don't worry~ I look foward too hearing more advice
