Seahorse Question,

Hello,
Just have 2 quick questions: I am planning to order a pair of seahorses ; but I already I have a Hippocampus erectus or Lined Seahorse Red, I need to know if it is a male or not. Are there any pictures I can find to be sure? I know about the pouch but if you never seen one its hard to know for sure.
Any info would be of great help.
Thank you

There are some great pictures on both seahorse websites, unfortunately, I cannot name them here. (they're both DOT org's)
(Google "syngnathid" and you're there)
My advice is to look at the profile of the horse's abdomen. It will either be a sloping curve, or it may have a dent in it. (The dent usually means female) Sometimes it takes longer for a male's pouch to appear, so without knowing how old your horse is, the above method is open to interpretation.
Were you planning on ordering the same species (erectus)? It is not recommended to mix species, even if CB. This is discussed in great detail on the other sites. Worth the read if you're interested.
Good Luck!!!
