Seahorse tank cyano update

OK, I added the airline last week...no change in cyano...I started rinsing the mysis 2 days ago, and received my koralia one today and put it in...I tested my water and everything is perfect except my phosphates are a one...is that bad? Can that be contributing to the algae? Is there anything else I can be doing...I'm scared it will take over my tank.

although 1 isn't horrible, any detectable phosphates can aid the cyano growth. im a huge fan of phosban reactors. since i starting using mine, i wont consider running a tank without one. its probably the best quality control system you can setup for under $60.
$30 TLF reactor
$20 phosban
$10 low gph power head
reduction in algae and cyano related issues.... priceless

Can I just buy the phosban and put it in my filter? After reading the info on it it leads me to believe you can do that.

phosban can be put into your filter in a small micro mesh bag, but it works way more effectively if it is in an area of high flow where all the surface area can be used.... hence using the reactor.
phosban and phosguard are different but achieve the same thing. phosban is ferric oxide (iron oxide) and phosguard is aluminium oxide. there have been lots of what i would call "anecdotal" evidence that aluminium oxides after time can leech into the water causing an aluminium toxicity. the general consensus on most boards is that ferric oxide is better than aluminium oxide. so, in light of that i'm going to recommend phosban or ROWAphos.
if anyone else wants to chime in, please do. this is one of those unsolved mysteries of reef chemistry and im sure there are other opinions. im also not a chemist but i did stay at a holiday inn last night, so take that for what its worth.

What does this mean?? Am I going to wake up tomorrow and have a purple tank? I am going to order a sea hare and some phosphate pads for my filter next week..anything elsde I can do? They will be fine. try shutting your lights down for a few days if you can or at least cut the time in half. It takes time for this stuff to go away.

OK, Sorry to sound so impatient..it's just that it seems like everytime I try to do something to make it better, it gets worse...I'm also going to order a dolabella sea hare this week...maybe have it by tues.

algea isnt something that will go way over night. Try the lights out for a couple of days. Do you run a canister filter??
I was reading on another site to try two treatments of chemi clean also.
I know I have hair algea in my 150 and red bubble in my horse tank. I am planning on adding a couple of urchins to my 150 and not sure what to do in the horse tank for the bubble stuff. May try chemi pure and purigen.

I was going to get 2 pencil urchins, but they are out of stock right now...I just ordered a seahare...so we'll see. I will try keeping the lights off some more.

unfortunately i think you will find the seahare a poor choice in algae control. most species do not go near cyano (only the very very very light green ones will eat it) and they are very slow. big appetite but by the time they make it across the tank, the algae is already growing in behind them.

Well I ordered a seahare nad a lettuce nudibranch, so all I can do right now is what I am doing, and hope for the best...I am going to order phosphate pads, but it will be a week before they come.
