well i am no expert on seahorses but... i would asume you cycle the same way you would cycle any saltwater tank. get an amonia spike by adding a dead shrimp and wait till your levels go down. then add live stock when you feel that the tank is ready.if anyone has any other opinons please feel free to add them.

Thanks for the thoughts and they concur with my thinking. If you read my post under the beginner section (probably should have posted here since I am a quasi beginner ;>). I am going to put a continuous incubator for brine shrimp in the tank and thought about just starting it up with no preditors and I have some feeder guppies that I would willingly sacrifice by adding the salt slowly (low salt will kill off the shrimip but feed the guppies, guppies will aclimate and provide additional biomatter) but I don't know which or if both will create enough bio matter so I am looking for suggestions/confirmation. My husband wants me to buy a pretty (cheap) cycle fish or two because of the lengthy time involved. I am opposed to this just in case the cycle fish does not die (as had been our experience with our previous fresh and salt aquariums).
Thanks again,
Denise

ya i understand what your saying ...and you dont even need to do the cycle with live creatures just throw a cocktail shrimp in there .wait for the amonia spike then remove it. and wait for your levels to drop:D good luck.~gill~
