My daughter wants a seahorse tank i am thinking of a 10 or 15 acrylic tank then drilling it and hooking into my main tank rather than runing it self contained I know the water would be more stable is there any reason not too ??
also does anyone have any good links to seahorse info

i would really reccomend not putting a seahorse in that small of a tank. Seahorses are vertically oriented animals, and need to be able to travel a good distance vertically as well as horizontally. Placing one in that shallow of a tank could possibly lead to the animal having buyoyancy problems (air gets trapped inside the horse and the only way to cure it is to take a hypodermic needle, extract the air and then apply an antibiotic. Its not fun, trust me, i had to do it once, and although it was successful, i would never want to do it again) In the wild, seahorses occupay a fairly large area, and defend this area agaist other horses. If you are gonna do a horse tank i would really reccommend looking into like a 29 gallon tall tank. THis is what i have my horse set up in, and it works like a charm. everyone is really happy!
good luck

Thanks guys I will do some reading and I could go a bigger tank np I still think hooking it to my main 90 reef would be good for stable water quality what do you think

tell me about it rich. that was with my dads digital camera that hes had for a couple of years now. the truth is i need a good photo editing program. any suggestions? im in the market for a good cam for myself, and am really looking into it. hopefully around christmas i might have a better one.
Carrie, all the horses in my 30 are from www.oceanrider.com, with the exception of one H. Histrix that i purchased as a wild specimen from my lfs. They have all been in the tank for abou tthree years ago, and the wild specimen just passed away a couple of months ago. He somehow contracted a bacterial infection that attacked his snout, and ate away at it. i tried everyhting to save him, but nothign worked and i finally had to put him out of his misery because he could no longer eat, and had trouble breathing. poor little guy. it just goes to show you how fragile these guys are and how important it is to buy captive raised if possible!
good luck

Jon -- after years of digital photography, and website/photo editing, I can easily say get paint shop pro from http://www.jasc.com.
We've used Photoshop, Corel Photopaint, and many others, Paint Shop Pro has the best combination of ease of use, power, and tools. Give it a shot.
