Don't get the seahorse... IT CANNOT WORK! Tomato clowns are very aggressive and are also aggressive eaters. If the clown doesn't stress out or kill the seahorse then it will starve because it won't get any food.

Listen Carefully... Seahorses Cannot Live In Captivity With Any Fish!!!

Wrong. Seahorses can be placed with fish. Mine are with an engineer goby at the moment. I know of seahorse owners that have theirs with other fire like a firefish. There is just a limit as to which ones. A perc clown is iffy. You have a 50/50 chance. I wouldn't do it.
It is recommended though that they have their own tank.
Go to seahorse.org. You will find a ton of information regarding seahorses.

Bare in mind, the only clownfish with a remote chance of coexisting with a couple seahorses are percs. And like I said, that is iffy. Seahorses are a whole different ballgame than regular fish tanks. There are a lot more problems to watch out for. Read up on it before you consider doing it. I rerad for three months straight everything I could find about them.
Your turnover rates of your tank are different, as are the compatibilty of tankmates just to name a couple. They also feed constantly. It is not uncommon for people to feed their seahorses 4 times a day. Something else to consider before purchase. Do you have the time to dedicate to them?

Also worth considering that many seahorses aren't tank bred... and in this day and age that's a tragedy. I live in DC and I was at the Baltimore Aquarium, where they have a whole exhibit on how the pet trade has almost single handedly wraught havoc on the seahorse population.
Tank bred horses, which are springing up more and more, are heartier, last longer, eat less selectively, and aren't contributing to the decline of the hippocampus population. Just be sure yours are tank bred before you go that route.
That said, sea horses and pipe fish rule, and should they fit the criteria, I think they make their owners very happy every single time.

the lfs salesman said they have had the horses about 3 weeks and haven't lost any yet. said he wanted to give them 1 or 2 more weeks before he started selling them.

Stick with that LFS!!!!!!. Ask him if they are tank-raised. If they are wild caught, I would personally steer away from them. Wild ones are tougher to get on frozen foods and are very timid making it harder to have other tankmates with them.
