I almost have my 65 set up and my kids love sea horses..would they do alright in my refugium once it is established and growing?..There is a very slow water flow about 30 gallons per hour going through it into my sump..Would adding small amount of brine eggs hurt the system,,for food etc..not enough hopefully to pollute but for some live food,,and would anything take care of the egg shells?

What I would do is go to this site http://www.oceanrider.com/ and buy my horses from there. They are tank raised so they do a lot better. If you don't you should hatch your eggs in a separate tank then feed them to your horses but also remember that when you dump in the brine shrimp turn your pump off after the horses are done eating turn it back on.

I looked at their site..They are a bit pricey but worth it to be tank reared..but what about any problems with putting them in the refugium??By the way they don't recommend feeding brine, they say it holds no long term nutritional value..

They should do fine in a refugium. Yeah I know they are pricey but I have two wild ones and I have to hatch brine all the time and it can be a pain I am trying to get they to get frozen as well but no luck yet. I know brine has no nutritional value but that is all they will eat aside from pods that are in my tank.

i ,personally, wouldn't puy horses in a refugium. a refugium is supposed to have lights on 24/7, which wouldn't be good for the health of them. if you want seahorses, set up a 20 gallon just for them. it really wouldn't cost too much. ;)
