Seahorses...

OK, anyone with knowledge about seahorses, i would love any advice.
However, there is just one question I have right now. I'm looking to setup a seahorse tank. It's 35 gallons, not sure of the dimensions, but it's a hexagon tank, so it's tall like it needs to be. I'm looking to get about 5-7 seahorses. I'm going to have a sand substrate, and some fake corals and whatnot for them to latch onto. However, none of the books i've read have address whether or not i can have a reef tank with seahorses. I just want some live rock, not much, at the bottom, with possibly mushrooms, polyps, and some other stuff. Are seahorses reef safe?

From what I have seen seahorses are reef safe. The only problem would be flow. Too much flow will not be good for them so I would go with corals that don't require alot of flow.

Seahorses are reef safe but must be in a safe reef. You cant have large inverts like shrimp or lobsters or stars that will eat them and you cant have corals that flow around like xenias or ones with stinging sweepers like galaxias. Mushrooms and zoos and other small stationary corals are fine and of course no anemonies.

Skip the scallop too. I made the mistake of buying one. Was funny watching him puff around the tank for about two minutes. They "Fly?" Then he started knocking things over and the novelty wore off. Later I read that they are one of those critters that are destin to die no matter what. Read a little and you'll know what I'm talking about.

seahorses are totally cool in reefs! my parents raised seahorses for years, most of that time they were in reef tanks. They even had them breed in a reef tank! unfortunately keeping baby seahorses alive is very difficult and very expensive to do
