Am in the process of finishing my closed loop with a scwd. For some reason the outlet to the mag pump leaks...no matter what I try, teflon, different fittings. Any ideas? help?

Try pipe thread sealant. Silicon is an adhesive and will make taking the fitting apart very difficult down the road.
The sealant should be available in the same area as the PVC pipe cement and such at your local home improvement labyrinth. I use Oatey sealant, and it works well.
One caution... make sure the stuff is suitable for drinking (potable) water systems. Some of it is only suitable for gas pipe, which may cause problems with the fish. Anythign made safe for drinking water should be fine for aquarium use.

Go with teflon pipe paste (drinking water approved as SCSI stated) Teflon tape usually compounds problems with leaks, as the housings onthe pumps are thin and easy to spread open or crack with tapered pipe fittings, and the teflon tape reduces friction during tightening, so its really easy to speread the pump housing or fitting more than it should and create a crack or a leak.
