Sealing leak--how long to cure?

There were some drips around the drain from my overflow system, so I completely drained the overflow, cleaned and dried it, and I have applied GE "Silicone I" around the plumbing inside and out.
How long do I need to wait before putting some water back in there to test?

There are fish and corals in the tank--all of whom (along with the tank) were moved yesterday and may be stressed. I have a HOB filter going, a bubbler, a powerhead, and heaters, so they're probably okay for a bit. But I don't want to leave them hanging for too long before I get full filtration rolling again.

What is the plumbing made out of. I do not now if silicone woul dhave been a good choice for long term if its pvc or other plastic. A lot of times yu can wick weldon #3 or 4 into a leaking PVC fitting and stop a leak. Bulkhead fittings usually need to be snugged up more or O-ring changed......Silicone is not really a good item for a permanent fix, and future repairs if needed will be harder to accomplish due to fitting / plumbing being exposed to silicone itself. If yu can not find weldon use Marine Goop as it setsup pretty fast and works much better on PVC and other plastics than silicone does. Silicone in general is not recomended for use on any plastics / acrylics.
