seaworld dissapointment!

my girlfriend and i were in orlando this past week and took a trip to seaworld. we loved everything there and i was really excited to see what kind of fish and livestock they had.
we went through the under the sea tunnel and to my disappointment everything was fake concrete, didn't even attempt to look real. then we got to the sign "THE CORAL REEF", i was so excited, here was where they were hiding all the good stuff! we rounded the corner and this is what i saw...

are you kidding me? a 40 gal with 1 RBTA and a firefish in it. im crushed, i figured someplace like seaworld would put a little money into their display. i complained while my girlfriend made fun of me. i guess the highlight was my girl telling me how much nicer my seahorses were than the ones in their seahorse tank and talking about my reef tanks with in earshot of the staff.
i dont know who those people in the picture are, but they were amazed by the bare rock.

They should have more displays. Was that the only one under the tunnel or the whole park? IIRC, they had "Jewel of the Sea Aquarium" which is in the gift shop adjacent to "Journey to Atlantis" ride. Don't remember too much, but there definitely was more then that horrible Coral Reef tank....

The huge aquarium at Epcott is far better than the aquariums at Seaworld Orlando....San Diego also has better aquariums than Orlando.

Yea, for tanks and stuff, you definitely what to visit an actual aquarium, the best one IMO is the Georgia Aquarium. There or the Monterey Bay Aquarium is good too. Seaworld is more focused on entertainment (is it owned by Anheuser Busch after all).

If that is all they have to offer, then why drive all the way down to Orlando (if it's the Seaworld in FL you are talking about), just stop at Fort Lauderdale and go to Big Al's.

Well they do have that WHALE!!!
Remove the whale and Seaworld would fall off the map. If you don't go for him, then don't go.
SHAMOO!!

I think Seaworld Orlando is way overrated and over priced, IMHO, of course. I lived down there for almopst 10 years and maybe only went there twice and spent most of my time feeding the dolphins.

The best reef display in Orlando is at Discovery Cove. It is a full reef complete with fish in a large saltwater environment that you snorkel in. They have designed the reef so that you can sit on the top of it and watch the fish school below, or you can dive among them. They also have a cool shark tank right next to the reef environment, separated from it by a glass wall. I nearly s--t my shorts when I saw a shark right next to me, and no visible separation (clear glass). The only drawback to Discovery Cove is the cost, somewhere around $250 per person (includes meals, snacks, a dolphin encounter, wet suit use and lots of other stuff. Worth it, but expensive anyway.
