Hello All,
I was wondering what's an approximate time from for live rock to seed the rock and sand below it. I have a fish only system with a couple of pieces of live rock over plain rock (bleached rock). Is there a way to accellerate the process? Thanks in avdance!

I do not know what kind of base rock you have, or how much you have vs live rock, But it should take from 6 mo to a year depending on the amounts.

if you are trying to expedite the process then there are detrivore kits you can buy to seed the sandbed. if you do a search for detrivore kits on this board i believe that a few people have given sites to get them from. you can also buy some live sand or rubble from live rock tanks at your lfs.

i don't know if it's a tall tale or not but some where on the line i heard calcium would help... Check it out though...

I would suggest getting some garf grunge and adding some extra calcium but not too much just a little above 450 ppm and you will start seeing results in as quick as a week. you can find this stuff at garf.org they are a non profit organization that has lots of great starter kits for saltwater aquariums as well as lots of articles on how to do it right. You should definatley check it out:D
