Senior High SChool Project

Hey all,
This comin semester of high school I am trying to set up a reef tank as a senior project. THe idea will be to have a balanced ecosystem in an enclosed environment. It's a required senior exhibition for graduation.
I am lookin to see if anyone has any aquarium accessories, or anything of the sort they would be willing to send me as a donation to help me get started. Ya know, high school budget's aren't that big, so i could use all the hlep i can get. Books, live goods, or test kits, or anything of the sort would be greatly appreciated. I think thats a great idea for a senior project.....good for you, its something that is unique and entertaining and will not be a waste of time or money, plus if maintained will remain for years to come. I dont have any specifs for equipment, but look around online, on ---- and for used equipment in the newspaper. Also, try the classified section of this site to look for people getting rid of equipment.

I am sorry I don't really have anything right now that isn't broken.
Another part of this project that I would recommend would be setting it up as all aquacultured, make your own LR, use Southdown playsand, for LR get FL aquacultured. Get frags from local aquarist and only buy captive bred fish. You might now be able to do the entire tank from aquacultured but you could do a lot.

Another thought, to entice people to donate you should find out if they can directly donate the equipment to the school, there should be a form they can fill out and then they can get a tax write off for the items donated. Of course then the equipment would belong to the school, but more people would be likely to donate.

Another thought- call some LFS in the area, most of them have tons of old equipment lying around, offer them the tax write off, couldn't hurt.

Dooh a month too late...
I had a ton of stuff at my parents house they ended up tossing .. without my consent that is..
I'll keep ya in mind if i can find anything left there.
