Serpent Star

I got a small serpent star for my tank 2 days ago and I think he already is growing on me. He made a home in a hole between a peice of my base rock and a peice of fiji. I put a small peice of shrimp in front of his hole today and he stuck out a leg and wrapped around it. He sure is a flexible star. I can see why they call them serpent stars! He actually wraps his arm around the food like an octopus tentacle as my wife would say.

They're known for it. I've been told that red brittles are less likely to prey on your fish, but don't know how true this is. I've also heard that a lot of the times green brittles get blamed for killing fish, they may actually be eating something that was already dead. YMMV, I guess.

I've been told by a great LFS that the green brittles will go after slow moving fish..like golby's
I have 2 GBS, they mind thier own business...but they are in a All Damsel tank, and those guys are pretty aggressive and fast, so I'm not to worried.
My emerald crabs keep getting sat on by the GBS's and they put up with it for a little while, then they grab the stars legs and the star runs off.
But so far no hostile behavior from anything except one pepermind shrimp which i think though the GBS was an aptasia and started "Stomping on it" but the GBS is 5 times the size of the shrimp and the shrimp backed off.
