I was wondering what people thought about a snowflake eel, valentine puffer, and maby a lionfish, hawkfish, clownfish, or huma in a 55 gallon- would a lion or sfe eat a hawkfish?
Slow down. In a 55, you have to chose aggressive fishes wisely. A humu will need more room, as will a lionfish depending on the species. Valentini puffers are notorious fin nippers, so they don't make the best tankmates with lions. A larger, more aggressive clown (maroon, red and black, tomato), snowflake eel, hawkfish, and either a dwarf lion or toby would be nice. Bo
I never heard of Valentini puffers being notorious for anything. I had my for sometime, until he decided to commit a suicide. They are really cool fish, but I am afraid that your tank may be too agressive for him. Hank ( my puffer) was peaceful, and many times he would get picked on by my yellow tang, as well as other fish, (nothing serious).
Puffers are very tempermental. Some will nip fins while others will totally disregard them. I have 2 puffers with my lion and not a fin is nipped. But they are notorious for nipping fins I can tell you. When I had figure 8's and spotted they would nip their tankmate's fins all the time. I'd always see pacman bites. It's quite a gamble so you must keep in mind all the possibilities. I've never had a Humu, but I heard they can go darkside fast the Anakin Skywalker. HTH
