SFE w/ octopus

I plan on getting an octopus from this site in a few months after I read up on them and cycle my tank. But I was woundering if my snowflake eel will be ok with it? or do I need a divider for the tank? I would really like to keep one any help would be greatful....thanks

not gunna work. octopus need a species only tank like said above.

yea that wont work..the octo will eat it if its small..and eels eat mollusk if its big..you can keep starfish with them..I have a larger star with my octo
Oh yea...divider will not work..the octo will figure how to beat it in one night....I know from experiance

well I am most likely going to get an octo and seal the tank off good....but I am just going to keep my SFE in a the tank he is in now so he won't get eaten.

acually since I am setting up a sump for the octo tank (still trying how to get it so its un-excapable) I will keep the eel in that.

you know snowflakes are escape artist as well. so the sump will have to be sealed good to

not a good idea.. from what i understand octo's need cleaner water than any other species only tank you can imagine..
Which means i wouldnt want to add any extra bioload from your sump, which the eel will definantly do

ok ok then I will either get rid of him or I will set up another tank....I still have a few months so I can still plan how I want it.

i think you have a lot of reading to do first.

You've got more than a few months, before you need to purchase an octopus. On top of cycling the tank, it needs to be mature...meaning you're gonna need to wait another 6 months, minimum.
The questions you're asking show that you've not done any research...you've got ALOT more to learn, before you should even attempt at keeping octopus.

Well after being detired from reading how long they live (not more than 6months usually) and the amount of food they need, waste produced, and level of difficulty I am just going to go with a community tank for now and when I have my own house with my own money and time to care for it I will go about getting one then....plus I would rather much have a few colorful fish than just one brown octo even though they are so cool.......
