SHARK EGG...hey RISC you out there???

have had a good sized healthy egg for about 2 weeks now; it has been fairly active during the day & of course less active at night/earl.y morning...yolk sac is down to about small marble size; now "appears" to be no movement inside the egg or or the small "flap" outside the egg...does this mean it has possbily died? right now we keep it clipped to the front of the glass about halfway from the top close by the outlet of the filtration system for best current...have not added any med products...only DT'S & chems for the LR; their are some isopods on the egg though

What might be happening is that the baby shark is using up or has used up most of it egg sack and has grom so mush that there is no way for him to really move in it. Hi might be getting ready to hatch soon. Mine did the same thing. Then after a few days of him not really moving I cut him free and he took off like there was no tomorrow but you have to be carefull doing this so that you do not cut him. I hope this helps.

I have a shark egg also... Somedays less movement than others.... If the shark dies in the egg, you will notice the egg getting really cloudy. I wouldn't reccomend cutting open the egg. I've never seen mother nature with sissors...
P.S. When I got my egg the embryo was so small you couldn't even see it...

hmmm...well actually sometimes mother nature needs a little help...hence puppet condors mom's for condor babies...well the egg still looks clear...just have not seen ANY gill movement even w/ the flashlight...it's been about 2-3 days now...we will probably cut it out tommorrow...the retailer did say it might need an assit of that nature shuld the yold sac be used up or almost completely gone but not hatched out yet...the "gill slit" of the egg seemed to have fallen away & there was large opeing now where it used to be...it did not respond to physical touch iether...

ya can get eggs from your LFS a few of em here has/had them. 1 place had 1 and it hatched before sale lol

sorry to say, it has past along...cloudy substance was leaching out from the egg this moring; not sure why it past on; did not change any of the parameters; it was one of the largest most healthy looking ones we had seen...the yold had been depleted down to small marble size...might have been best that we had cut it lose from the egg at that point...sometimes they have difficult time releasing themselves from the egg...we ended up paying $60 for it, but retails for $20; the LFS that HAD ONE reasoning was that it had a shark in it...you can find occasionally at LFS or order from online; you really should not aquire one until you have done your research and have adequate home for it...it wass suppose to have hatched to be a banded bamboo catshark...

Sorry you lost the little fella, I was looking forward to seeing it. Are you going to try again? I was not able to contact Aaron in KY, I believe he is in Alaska right now working on some Salmon project. Sorry I could not get you help. Believe me I tried.
