Just bought wife a shark egg for wedding anniversary. Looks like he is ready to hatch.I've heard through the grape vine that I might have to help him out.Whats the best way to help him?And how do I know when he is ready?

Dont help it. Its best to leave them to do it on thier own. Chances are they will hatch at night like mine all did and you wont even see it happen. What size tank is it in?

No. They have all worked out fine. I hope you plan on quadrupling (at least) that tank size in the first 2 or 3 months after it hatches.

theres a whole lot of info on octopus that was posted not too long ago, i beleive the topic is called blue ring octpus,,,it went on about all octopi not just the blue ring, but anyway from what i know if you have an octopus thas all your going to have in your tank, they eat everythign that comes in frotn of them,, also they are pretty hard to keep and you need a HUGE tank depending on species

I had one three years ago.Iknow thats all that can be in the tank.It layed eggs and they hatched on christmas eve.I know as soon as the eggs hatch The octopuss dies. The problem I had was trying to keep the babys from beeing sucked in to the filters.Have you heard of away to keep them alive without shutting down the filters?

As far as growth rate for the shark, in 9 months one of my females reached 27". I wish people would do research before they "impulse buy". That shark will outgrow (read: not be able to turn around) that tank faster than you can turn around. Best of luck to it.

if you can afford to impulse buy, then go buy a 200+ gallon tank if you evan wanna think about keeping sharks, but if so i would buy a 400 if you wanna do it the right way and you got the money as you say you do

A 125 is NOT going to cut it. It will outgrow that in less than a year. By outgrow I mean that it wont be able to turn around. I tried keeping bamboos in a 125 and it will NOT work. You need something at least 3 feet wide. Many will argue this till they die, while some say its ridiculous. From my experience, a tank 8x3 feet is minimum.

if you got money you can create space!!!! Money is wonderfull you can do everything with it....but honestly it would be more rewarding for you, and especially the animals if you just waited to buy a huge tank, you can still have a 125 and have an awesome aggressive setup , just no sharks, rays, etc.
