I had one awhile ago you don't have to help him out, he will come out on his own. Just have the egg off of the sand and you should be fine. I just wish that I could have seen him come out but I was not that lucky.

just curious, what size tank do you have him in? and what do you plan on feeding him?
i researched sharks, the bamboos, for like months, thinking i was gonna get a smalll blow up pool, then i remembered the price of live rock....killed that dream......FOR NOW
anyway, good luck with him

I have always really wanted one of these. I was thinking about getting one for my 220g for a while there but I am not sure if the shark would be ok in something that size. It would be really cool to actually see the thing hatch!

Ok- first off - Bamboo shark eggs are incredible common in LFS. Which isn't a good thing.
The vast majority of Bamboo sharks that are hatch eggs by hobbyists in home aquaria - don't survive past their month, and usually never eat. This due to a two main of factors - 1.) stress from hatching, (which can't be helped) and 2.) inexperience on the part of the hobbyist.
Bamboo Shark eggs are the absolutely worst way to get a young shark - especially as a first shark. The Best choice is a shark that's at least 2-3 month old - because it already feeding on it's own. And the hobbyist will have a healthier pet shark.
BTW- Bamboo Sharks need at least 400-500 gallons as adults. Although it's possible to keep pups under 18" in tanks of 75-180 gallons.

I dont think they should be sold there are a few different species that lay eggs and when harvested they can be sold as the wrong species on top of that their is no gurantee it will even hatch and then you could have a surprise even get a ray egg instead of shark if you dont know what you are looking for.

Yes that a good idea thats how I had mine and after it hatch, it took him like 2 weeks to start eating. I started out with little pieces of squid to get him to eat and he was doing fine after that. I wish you good luck on your shark and hope that you don't have any problems with him.
