Would it be ok to put a home caught small shark in my 110 tank? Any input or suggestions will help. I figured i could just hang out around a local pier and get one from a fisherman if one is caught.
110 will be to small for any shark for any period of time, also after fighting for its life as its being reeled in to the pier it will be so stressed than you would have to take him home Unknown time but then acclimate into your tank it would probly die from stress even if the tank was bigger. Just my opion
Ok was a stupid thought. A friend suggested waiting at the docks when the shrimp boats come on and dump there nets. He said the just dump the fish over the side when they sort out the shrimp. What are the chances of getting a small shark? Are there any tpes that would stay small found in the gulf. I am obviously new to sw and want to start a tank that is impresive either mini-reef or fish only. And yes I think it would be cool to have a shark. I ride a Harley, have a pitbull and have tatoos. Some people have poodles because they are pretty to look at, some people drive mopeds, and some people are scared of needles. Well if I do something I like to go 110%. So maybe I am interested for the wrong reasons but most people get into a hoby because they think its cool.
Wait a few months and you will start to see coral catsharks and marbled catsharks showing up in the stores. Sharks become more widely available in the Summer.
Both of these could possibly be kept in a 110 but they would have to be the only fish in it.
Realistically, if you want to keep a shark, you have to look into getting a much larger tank.
id never put a shark in anything under a 250. if you want an impressive tank, do some sort of trigger (humu's are my favorite), a grouper (miniatus, blue-line, blue-dot), an eel (snowflake or zebra) and maybe a lion or a wrasse. that would be a sweet tank. bo
