Shark Tank Incandescent Lights

I have a 300 gal I bought used and am going to be setting it up soon in the basement. I have a bamboo shark and a spotted stingray in my 180 that I am going to be putting in there as well as a few other things. I read in Scott Michaels book that incandescent lights are good for a shark/ray tank. I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience or advice on
these lights, such as what kind to buy etc. All help and comments are greatly appreciated.

Lighting really doesn't matter much on shark/ray tanks. Whatever looks pleasing to you should be fine. Personally I use two 55w 10k PC's over my 180g shark tank.

lights can be hard on sharks eyes. I would stay with a low wattage. And maybe some RED bulbs for night veiwing.

I dont know if you'd like the look of an all blue tank. Personally I'd just use some daylight NO's.

If you use house bulbs, then get reveal bulbs....they make a world of difference. Regular bulbs will make the water VERY yellow. I use reveal house bulbs on my eels tank. They actually make a HUGE difference throughout the house as well.....very cool bulbs, and they show true color much better than yellow looking regular house bulbs......anyone that tries them will be impressed.:)

What kind of fixture are you using with those reveal bulbs? I'm using 4 strip lights in my aggressive tank and they're kind of a PITA. Incadescents could be the trick if they look good.
Any chance of a picture?

If you are actually really interested....I will take a pic when I find time that shows the difference between the two....I just use two reflector type things with clamps like you might use to work on a car or something......grow a plant or whatever......mine are hidden though, so looks don't matter.

Exactly. I have a hood that I made and for the time being I have a 4' shop light with 2 10k, 1 4' AGA fixture with a 10k, 1 4' AGA with a "actinic" and a 18" just for good measure. I have to move stuff around off the top glass to feed and such. The way I built my hood didn't make for good flourescent mounting. But, incadescent gives options.
I was thinking one of those multi fixture deals like they make for bathroom vanities. Do you think that would work?
A picture would be great just to get a feel for the color of the lighting.

I have some stuff in the way right now because my fiance just had surgery and the tank is the bottom of a stack setup, so give me a few day, bump if you want, and I'll get some comparison shots. I presently have a bed in the living room blocking most of it......sorry, but I will take shots when I can.,
