SHARKS....please help with Anemone

Please help. My long tentacled Atlantic purple tipped anemone is dieing...or somehting. I moved him today from my 6 gallon nano to my larger tank with MH lighting as instructed by local store and by someone on the board last night. Within a 1/2 hour he was completely curled up and tentacles deflated. What can I do...please hurry

Ive got a few and its perfectly normal for them to scrunch up when they get startled.. it should come back sooner or later

was the advice I receieved on him needing bright light correct? I put him back in the small tank but that might have been a mistake as well. Thanks for the reply

Anemones are short lived, sorry
All you can do is wait. I'm sure that is not what you want to hear.
I if were you, I would put him back in the larger tank and wait and see what happens.
Anemones (when they die)can kill a smaller tank. I think by putting it in the larger tank would help both of you.
set it on the bottom and next to a rock with moderate water movement.

Thanks. I will put him back in the big tank tomorrow. He seems to be doing better as all tentacles have inflated and he is moving a bit so maybe he was just scared from the move. As everyhting, I should have read more before buying him. I twas one of those impulse buys. I saw him in my LFS attached to a 16 lb. piece of live rock (Florida) that was fully cured and beautifully covered with coraline and it seemed perfect as I am trying to create a caribbean/Gulf Of Mexico bioitope tank. I put him in the small tank when I got him home and he was eating within one day so i thought he was doing good and then I got some info on his need for stronger light so i moved him to my 44 gallon pentagon with MH. I have 4 powerheads running on timers and am cycling just over 20X the ammount of the tank very hour. I can't seem to find much info. on the anemones

I'm not possitive about this but maybe you need to cut the lights back a little and acclimate him to it. I'm not sure what lighting you were using in the nano but stepping up to that mh may have been a shock, expecially if the lights were old.
This may not be the problem at all. Its just a thought.

try to feed it!!! that's what I did with my friend's anemones. it was nearly dead but after 2 smaller cubes of brine shrimp it comes back to life. won't hurt to try.

Good point. The light (250W 12K Pendant MH)is brand new but i probably should have turned it off before putting him in the tank. He seems to be doing fine now. Thanks

Anemones are by no means short lived, they have even been said to be imortal in the wild, now in captivity under the wrong conditions they may be very short lived. Your anemone is most likely suffering from shock as mentioned above, you must acclimate it brighter lights by providing it with shade and/or cutting back the photoperiod.HTH
