HI in this post i would like to ask a question to the owners of Sharks. First i would like to state that im only 16 so when i do this it will be in the future but im very deticated to the hobbie and most likely i will. The first question i would like to ask is what is a good size aquarium for a nurse shark and a leapord shark i really like the ones i saw in an earlier post. 2 question i would like to know what are good sharks to keep ? 3rd i would like to ask is there any good sites where i can see any pics of these sharks in aquariums i would really like to see these beautys but havent been able to find them on the net. Last i would like to ask what else should i put in there besides live sand that will help them live nicely.
Thanks for the help i plan to do these within the next year at the moment im making 10 dollars an hour and am working 10 hours a day 5 days a week and all of this money will go torwards the aquarium including 1500 i have saved up. Thanks again for any response

Hey I'm 16 too and I have two bamboo sharks.
1. Full grown leopard sharks need at least a 4,500 gallon to do well.
2.I'd recommend sharks from the family Hemiscylliidae(bamboo and epaulette sharks) because they stay small(about 3ft) and do well in tanks as small as 180-240 gallons and are very hardy.
3.There are tow topics(one by rescue and one by me) with pics of a leopard shark and pics of my bamboos other than that I don't know.
4.For bamboos and epaulettes put a few pounds live rock with them to so they have places to hide.
I would also recommend you pick up Aquarium Sharks & Rays by Scott W. Michael. Its a great book with lots of usefull info about keeping sharks and rays in aquariums.

Now way, leopard sharks get to be almost 6ft long and are pretty active and remember Horns are naturally a cold water species(they come from the California coast) and do best in like 60-70 degree water. I think risc has some that he adapted to warm water though(I'm not sure about that).

I don't know of any places to get them (try searching in yahoo or google) but I think they run from $2000-$3000 for a 400g and stand.
