Shaving Brush - Nitrate removal?

How does Shaving Brush work at removing Nitrate? How much would you really need to see a difference? It would go in the main tank.
Thanks!

Only very minutely. There are a calcareous algae, meaning they take in calcium, very similarly to stony corals, to build their main structure. They are slow growing as well. Chaeto, various caulerpa, and turf algae are far more effective for nitrate export.
That said, they need a deeper sandbed for their root structure (min 3" IMO). However they make for great display algae. Unlike different caulerpa, they can be easily controlled, and because they are calcareous few things that might eat caulerpa, such as tangs, might leave it alone. Unfortunately my Naso eats anything algae...
