Shipping a large aquarium

Does anyone have experience shipping a large aquarium?
What truck service did you use, packing/crating it, cost?

ive never had a tanked shipped to me but i saw somewhere that they would ship a 75 gallon tank with a stand freight. and it would cost around 500 dollars just for the shipping. Not worth it to me...

I think that it is cost prohibitive, but wanted to see if someone had a "secret" for doing it cheaper.

my 300 gallon came VIA fedex frieght and the shipping was only like $200 bucks which is VERY cheap

the cheapest way...... you and one of your buddies make a road trip out of it.....

Did you get it dropped off and you picked it up, or was that to your door?

My 90 gallon came Fedex Freight also, crated and shipped to my door for $167.

probably depends on if you are shipping it to someoen else or are having it shipped to you from a business.
if you have large items and attempt to ship via fedex or ups it is rather expensive 85 dollars to ship a large box that wieighed 27 pounds the other day
but other places (businesses get discounts on shipping like the drs site i got large salt bucket (60) pounds and another package delivered for 12 dollars.
So if you are shipping a tank or wanting to have one shipped to you from a private party shipping is gonna be monsterous. if you are buying from a dealer shipping may still be high but will not be as bad.

You might check the differences in prices between Fedex and Fedex Freight. since Fedex Freight only ships larger item then Fedex

That would defeat the purpose of shipping freight. That sounds like regular shipping prices.
