Hey All
So far I have been setting up my tank on the advice of a good friend of mine who has been keeping salt water fish for about 20 years or so. After finally getting my stand/tank/hood in today, he informed me that I can probably start adding fish in about 1-2 weeks. (MUCH FASTER THAN I EVER THOUGHT!!!)
In order to get the tank stable quickly, he recommended that I add about 1.75 LBS of live rock per gallon to my tank and add a product called "Cycle" to the tank. Then, he pretty much assured me that it would be stable enough to add the first real fish in 1-2 weeks.
Also, please note that my life rock is coming from a local aquarium tank that is already established.
A lot of info online says this will work, but a lot of people say it won't. (And even more B****H about it!) Anyone have an opinion on this?
PS: I have used Cycle in my Cichlid Tank before and I can say that it DOES contain active bacteria that consumes ammonia and nitrates/nitrites. So I am positive it is more than just snake oil...
