Shot Glass Reef

Okay so I've had the idea running around in my head for a while about constructing a really small aquarium made of 3.5" x 5.5" glass from 4 little picture frames I have. I was thinking of using silicon to hold them together and maybe a small piece of plastic for the bottom. I know this is going to be really small so my livestock plan is maybe a trio of those colony duster that I have all over my tank and a aiptasia anemone (
) and of course live rock and sand to spice it up from my other tank so I won't have to cycle.
I think it could be really cute to put next to my bed. Maybe a tiny little stand and canopy to give it that larger tank feel.
For lighting i was thinking of wiring up one led bulb i found on eBay onto a old phone charger: ($3 w/shipping)

5pcs 3W High-Power White LED 130Lm
Emitted Colour : White
Forward Voltage : 3.4V~3.6V
Forward Current : 700mA
View Angle: About 120 degree.
Luminous Intensity: 120~130 Lumen
Color Temperature: 6500~7000K
Quantity: 5pcs

My plan for the filter would just be frequent water changes and a little air stone for circulation.
Any comments or suggestions for my plan are welcome.

your gonna have to keep up with top offs, otherwise your salinity will be messed up. just a suggestion but, I wouldnt go with an aiptasia anemone because it wont just stay one aiptasia anemone...i would look into psuedocorynactis (i think thats how its spelled) AKA strawberry anemone, There about the same size as aiptasia but are IMO much prettier and spread much slower than aiptasia. I think this is an interesting idea...good luck with it

Thanks i'm kinda excited about it. I've been thinking since I've been on vacation and want to get home already and get started. I was thinking of aiptasia because I find them able of withstanding wide fluctuations but my quick google of the psuedocorynactis states there just as hardy... bad
. The only problem is finding them now.

They usually come in on live rock...i have a few popping up that came in on coral frags also. Ive never seen them for sale so they may be hard to find.

ha, 4 more years...
do you know of any local reef clubs for your area. Those are a usually good way to find miscellanious items like that, that people are willing to sell/get rid of.

OK so i dumped my other Idea and upgraded, if you could call it that. The picture frame glass wasn't exactly the same I had issues, luckily (I know how bad this will sounds) my neighbor had a Betta that just died and she gave me her little tank. Its tiny and has the 2.5g standard look but about 1/4 smaller. I'm not sure on its capacity. something like two cups. I was inspired by some cool little picos and built a cute little stand and canopy!

With lights

(Edit)I changed the photos from before

yet another question:
I´m planning to buy $80 worth of coral from this site to get the free shipping. (not now but when I cycle and add my diy auto top off system) This alone will probably have my tank fully stocked, as it being like five separate corals or so. I have read discussion that coral do not contribute to the bio-load and others that say yes. Will adding all these at once restart my cycle or crash it.
Thanks

1 small emerald grab, 4 hermits, 4 snails. That will cover it, maybe even a fire shrimp?
My pico is 3 gallons and it has 4 hermits and 4 snails and the snails clean the glass so i don't have to scrub it. The hermits keep it clean, and the emerald crab keeps the algea in check

Im guessing you missread something, its not a 3g tank, i would guess 2-4 cups (judging by the coffee cup next to it in the pics).

IMO, I would not put crabs in tank that small that is going to house corals. It could just spell disaster for the coral.
