adios Marty Ball... will anyone pick him up??? IMO he needs to take this as a hint and just retire... great regular season coach but has nothing for the post season...

i wish the vikings would pick him up because our coach better known as the secret squirrel is a joke, but it wont happen, wish we could have retained tomlin

I totally agree with you.
The guy showed a lot of strides this season but the team fell apart in the playoff game, as usual.

would you rather go 14-2 and not go to the Superbowl, or go 2-14 and not go to the Superbowl? because the Chargers aren't all that many years removed from averaging 2 wins a season. and I don't see anyone out there whose going to step in and do a better job. the AFC just happens to be a nasty conference. if the Chargers were in the NFC, they would have breezed through the playoffs. I just don't see the logic of firing him, especially since it was Rivers' first year as starter. I would've given him at least 2 or 3 years with Rivers as starter.

i agree Pontius... but Shotenheimer has made too many bad coaching decisions during the playoffs... he has had some plays go against him as well, but they had the best record, the #1 seed and couldnt get it done... this isnt the first time either...

i am interested also to see what San Diego does next season...they lost 2 Coordinators, a LB Coach and the Head Coach...

guarentee its denny green, lives in san diego and they need a short term option, plus i dont think rivera is a very good interviewer cuz he gets beat out of a ton of jobs

wow... SD giving Dennis Green a shot... didnt think of that... Rivera or perhaps Singletary are front runners from what the hacks are saying...

with no real options out there anymore you take an offensive mind that is an established head coach and already has a staff. this team would be very good with an offensive coach like denny green all jokes aside, they have tons of weapons and green knows how to use them

if they fired Shottenheimer for Green, they deserve whatever happens to them. he had good skill position players this year and had a disastrous year, how's he an offensive coach?

how do you think he got in the nfl from stanford? it was his offensive coaching abilities, it sure wasnt his defense. look at when he was with the vikings we had one of the best and most electric and exciting offenses in nfl history.
he couldnt do anything in arizona because other than their top 5 players the rest of the team is not very good and didnt have a qb until they started playing leinart and funny they started to win a few games.
in all seriousness this is a very probable and would be prolly one of the better options for them in the short term with not many proven coaches remaining.

Rivera, Gibbs, Hasslett, Ryan, Martz are on the interview list... Carroll has said dont even call not interested... I dont think that Green would be a good choice... he has structure issues and also has made questionable moves...

.
And couldn't even beat the Atlanta Falcons coached by Dan Reeves (no master of post-season play himself) in the NFC championship game after going 15-1 . . . oh yea, Green's a dream NFL headcoach.
He's like Norv Turner . . . should stick to being a coordinator and leave headcoaching to those who can handle it.
And those of you touting Gruden as a great coach, let's examine the facts . . . Dungy builds team (Including going 9-7 his last year), Gruden takes over in 2002 and wins Super Bowl . . . four years since now that he's had time to put his stamp on the team: 27-37. Yep, Hall of Fame for sure that Gruden.

PAAAAHLEASE!!! Gruden took a 4 - 12 team to 8 - 8 then to 12 - 4 to the conference Championship the following year 10 - 6 to the divisional playoffs... yes he did inherit a team that but the team he inherited was 9 - 7 ... he tuned that team to 12 - 4 and Super Bowl Champions... he has had it rough as of late with QB, Reciever and an aging defense...

not his problem anderson goes perfect all throughout the year and decides to miss his one and only, just happening to be the biggest miss of his career.
listen im not saying is the greatest coach and not even that he is a good coach, all im saying is that he is prolly one of the better options available at the moment since most good coaches are already signed for respective programs and schools.
there is a reason why the coaches who are not head coaches yet are in the position they are, how many job openings has there been in the last 2 years?
but ya if any of you would like to trade head coaches i would more than willing to drive childress myself to your respective cities

don't take this the wrong way, but in my lifetime, I've never seen a Viking offense that I'd classify as one of the most electric and exciting in nfl history. what years are talking about specifically?? maybe they should hire D---I---C---K Vermeel. now HE put together an offense that I'd rank up there with the greats (the Superbowl winning Rams team).

um 1998 if you didnt see this offense you have no need to comment and if you did you must be delusional.
by the way we arent going on a one game basis
