I would like to add a Coral Beauty or a spotted sweetlips to mt 75 gal. reef.
(not enough room) Yellow tang??
I read where they are not very peaceful and bother corals. Has others had that kind of luck?
I have 2 clowns, I Flame Hawk, & 1 Yellow watchman, (I'm going to get another watchman)
for a pair.
Is there another fish that would get along better with this family? A little larger than the clowns, with personality and color?
Thanks again

I've got a coral beauty in my 55.....with a tomato clown..dragon goby..and lunare wrasse(juv).....everybody gets along and does well.....believe its best to add coral beauty to a established system .....at least thats what I did

I started it in 10/2000. Added stock in Dec.
Would that be long enough for the tank to be established?
I just have lots of questions.
Thank you

how does the rest of your coral look in your tank? That would be a good indication of establishment, as for time you have been going long enough. Sailfin Dragon Gobie, yes will help with brown algae. I am not in favor of that many fish in a reef tank. Might try a star

East TX-You metnioned something about a spotted sweetlips. They are very tempermental to anything besides prestine water quality. They are reef safe when juv. but they do get quite large. Gorgeous fish, but I'd keep it away from a reef. They get huge. Full mail size I believe is anywhere from 12 to 18 inches. I could be wrong but just what I heard. I wanted one when I first put my reef together, great contrast with a clown, but I decided against it. Looking for another fish to put in mine. Which brings me to this question, my lfs has a gorgeous juv. dragon wrasse....reef safe? Let me know guys.
peace

East Tx, I personally would not add an angel or butterfly to a reef tank. As BurnNSpy said, like us, fishes also have individual characters that sometimes defies any category we place them in.
You may try it, three things may happen; no problems at all, problems right from the beginning, or problems after a period of peace.
I am speaking form the point of reef compatibility, not fish compatibility.
Good luck.

I do have a Orange Linckia. (ordered it on line but it's a maroon color)
I test my tank every 4 days and it reads fine. I do a water change every 2 weeks.
I just wanted another neat fish. (a little larger than the others)
My corals are doing fine also.
Any more ideas on the new member??

The dragon wrasse is reef safe, however when an adult, it may pick at rock work. If you have small, light rock work, expect him to move it as he is a rock mover. As a juv, he is green, but will lose that color to a brownish when older. If you like your small rocks where they are or like your sand smooth, I would not recommend him. He sleeps in the sand and you may only see him during the day. Mine buries himself around 5 PM and will not see him until the morning. As well he tends to jump from the water so I would be careful if you do not use a top.

Hi TX - you also mentioned a tang. Tangs are great in reefs. Only 1.
You could get a purple, yellow or scopas (that shape). Your tank is too small for a naso (IMO).
I have a purple tang in my reef, and love it.
She's the queen of the tank and keeps everyone else in line. They can be agressive, but it depends on the fish and the tankmates. Mine is pretty mellow, because noone else is a threat in the tank.
She picks at the LR and swim through the caves. She'll also eat out of my hand and goes crazy for seaweed & brine. Juli
