In my 55 g tank I have 30# lr, 2" sand, cpr bac pac, golden headed sifter goby, lawnmower blenny, serpent star, cleaner shrimp, and 25 hermit crabs. If I add 2 turbo snails would this take away a lot of food from the fish above? I really dont have that big of a problem with algae, except on the glass.Any help would be great.

Depends on how much algae you have in your tank. I wouldn't think 2 snails would take away much food. You might want to get some algae sheets for the lawnmower.

I have one turbo left, the others have been lunch for someone, but I tell ya...my snails barely ever moved....lazy bums. I am not getting anymore, the lawnmower blenny takes care of the glass better than the lazy snails. But, that's just my snails....in the sw tank. the snails in the fw do their job and do it great.

Thanks for your help everyone!! I think I will still buy a couple and see how it goes. I can always add more later.

i could never keep the snails around someone was always eatng them and i don't know who because my fish aren't suppose to eat them. so i decided to switch and use urchins instead. the urchins do the best job with algae. i usually leave the back of the tank glass alone and let algae grow on it. i put 2 urchins in my tank and probably a week or 2 later there is nothing at all left. so i would suggest urchins for the glass

i've had these things in my tank for a while now and they havn't cause one problem what so ever. the only thing i've heard of urchins doing destructive is maybe moving ornaments and that's it but mine don't do that either
