the last couple days i have noticed my tomini tang pecking at my open brain coral. it doesnt look like he has done any damage. is he just grazing or is he trying to eat it? the coral doesnt look stressed.

he may just be picking at some alage on the corals base. there is a chance hes picking at the coral itself. what have you been feeding him and how often/ much?

i feed him mostly mysis( 2-3 times a week) and algae sheets 2-3 times..he is constantly grazing the tank. should i feed him more often? sometimes i feed clams but he mostly only eats the mysis

i would try to squeeze a few other things into his diet. mysid and algae sheets are good, but try a high quality flake and or pellet as well. if hes got a lot to choose from, theoretically, he'll be less likely to pick at corals. he'll always be a grazer, thats just what tangs do. hopefully he just wont be grazing on corals.

I like the prime reef and marine cuisine as well,, dont be shy to give them a soak in selcon, garlic or vitachem as well..

how will i no if the tang is eating the coral? im guessing it would shrink down rather than being so inflated like it normally is?

he is still picking at it. sometimes 5-6 pecks at a time. sometimes just 1. i dont see any chunks taken out. what should/could i do? is this just going to eventually stress out/kill the coral?

unless he is tearing it apart he may be picking at pods, algae, anything. or he may be like "wtf is this wierd lokin thign?". never know. but if he isn't cuasing any harm, don't worry.
