should i clean my lr

i have 35 lbs of lr it has purple and white on it, also losts of hair algea, when i put my hand in the tank and fan water on the lr debri and brown dust comes off the rock is this ok to do or should i not do that, should i take the lr out and rinse it in a bucket of saltwater

when we do water changes, we just use a turkey baster to clean some of the debris off, and just kinda blow the exces out of the crevises

I use the siphon to vaccuum any loose sediment on the LR. I wouldn't worry about cleaning it though, you don't want to kill it.

for the hair algae, you can use a clean toothbrush to remove it. i usually then siphon it out with the water change. i also occasionally siphon off the rocks during the water change to help keep the detritus level down.
