Should I dig out my hiding wrasse?

I've had a wrasse for a year and for the first time he's hiding. I've checked to see if she may have jumped out or gotten sucked into something, but all signs point to the fish shaped lump in the sand.
I know that the wrasse his hiding due to stress. There haven't been any new fish added for a year in fact she was the last fish added. So do I wait until she surfaces or again do I dig her out and possibly stress her out more?
There are plenty of hiding spaces in the tank for her to hide.
Every search I do for 'should I did my wrasse out' yields results like 'yes wrasses dig.'

its very inportant not to disturb the sand bed. what is your water looking like?

It hasn't been changed in a month. Its starting to look bad with cynobacteria, but its been worse.

Your water quality is down and that may be why the wrasse is not happy. Post your test results and tell us how much water flow do you have?

you should invest in a test kit if you dont have one. has any thing in the tank changed. food, water, salt, ect. even moving furniture can upset your fish.

Nothing has moved or changed in maybe a year. The furniture hasn't moved in a month since changing the water.

How long before they need to be fed? Or is it a situation where since he's hibernating / doing nothing he can go for a long period of time with no food?

Test results:
Nitrates, Ammonia are both 0.

I tested it 2x to make sure.

your fish can go up to a week without food and still be healthy. fish will go into hiding if they are near the end of ther life or got beat up. has any one been picking on him?
