Should I have gotten LS instead of CC??

I originally wanted to get LS, but my lfs said it was so hard to clean, and cc would be better overall, so I went with cc. Now I'm thinking I should have gone with LS. Would it do good things for my aggressive tank. My tank just finished cycling and I have 20 lbs live rock, would it be unwise to performa swith to LS now? Thanks.

I only have 15 lbs cc in my 45 gallon tank. That comes out to just an inch. Do you think I could just add 2-3 inches of LS on top of the cc? Also, what is a plenum and what does it do?

I would definatly switch if I were you. Especially if this is going to be an aggressive tank. These are messy eaters, and all the uneaten pieces of food will settle deep into your CC and break down causing a nasty nitrate problem in a couple of months. You should get as much CC out of there as possible then add GOOD LIVE SAND.This "GOOD"sand will not cause a recycle, and keep your nitrates under control.

Somebody at ur lfs... is not doin to well hehe must be going to a drug rehab center of somethin... J/K.... Its all dependant on the likes and dislikes of the aquarist personally on my 4 tanks 2 reef and 2 fowlr.. i use ls... i have never cleaned them in about a year... and i doubt i ever will... Problem with the ls is that you need to have some animals.. crabs/snails/gobys to stir it up.. and that it... they will clean it up themselves... Get a wet dry.. if you do not have one.. please heed me.. ignore the fluval and others... WD is the only way to go... less you want to go the expensive way ecosystem... i did it for my small tank and it is the best system i have ever owned...

Several people ..myself included have successfully added ls ove cc........I started with about 1" cc..learned the advantage of ls...added 40 lbs natures ocean over the cc......just a few weeks ago I added another 20 lbs of ls along with 30 lbs of carib sea oolitic .......just be careful when adding.......should not be a major problem
