1st xmas question of 08 i believe....early yea yea...
alright to get down to it i have been thinking of upgrading some of my equipment in my tanks. tanks as in my 125DT and my 20L FT. i will post what i have then what i want to upgrade to. i will ask a couple questions. go to bed. and check this 2marrow after work mid day to see the results.
Currently in the 125DT:
2x- hydor koralia #3' for water movement
1x- mag18 return pump from sump. i recently redid my plumbing to the tank. so i would say im getting about 1200 gph back to the tank. split the return to run back through the fuge, and i split the returns that come back into the tank. i have also ordered eductors for my loc-line returns.
Currently in the 20L FT:
2x- hydor koralia nano's
1x- aquavia 606 gph return pump. prolly gettin maybe 500gph back up to tank. as it is now it looks more like a nano tank than a frag tank. i have about 1.5" of sand bed with a bunch of tonga and fiji rock. i may in the future pull the sand and rock out and make this a straight up frag tank...not sure cause i dont want to redo the plumbing for the return. haha
My Wish List to Santa (haha im 27 years old.)

i want to change the koralia #3's in my DT with two #4's. the difference between these two plus the addition of the eductors on the sump return lines would add plenty of flow. a hint for ya, i have a softies and LPS mix tank.
in the FT i want to change the koralia nano's out for two koralia #1's. and upgrade the sump return pump to a mag9.5. the upgrade of these two things will also help the tank out whether i keep the nano look or change it back to a real frag tank.
now my question...

will these upgrades help or hurt the team. flow is always good, but some times to much of something can be bad...would it be worth it if santa surprised me with these. sorry have to stay with the xmas theme, its in the heading....
i know this is mostly an equipment question, but im looking at it as a reef benefit, not an equipment thing.
thank you very much!!!! Brian

For softies and LPS too much flow can be a bad thing. If you think it's adequate now then I don't think you need to upgrade. However if you plan on going the SPS route, then all of that flow would be great.

it is alot of flow if i upgrade, but i have alot of caves so alot of potential dead spots. its alrite now, and with me redoing the plumbing im getting more out of my return, plus with the additions of the eductors on the sump return lines. i might be good for flow after them with the koralia #3's, but if for free why not.
was also thinking of adding a tunze nano skimmer to the FT too...
