Dogstar your tank is one of the top three tanks I have ever seen. I am just starting in salt water just to get an idea of what to do and one day I can only hope to have one as good as yours. How much money have you spent on your set up and how mature is your tank?

I am interested in getting a colt coral and have read that they excrete mucus sometimes when being shipped. I am just wondering how much mucus they excrete and how you go about cleaning it before putting it in your tank?

I know not to put the mucus in the tnak I was just wondering if you mix a batch of new water to rinse it off or if you jus take some out of your tank. Is it really noticable that the coral has released the mucus or do you have ot look closley?

Thanks for the earlier comments...
I have had most of my wet pets and LR for over 5 years through 3 different tanks.....money ?? !! dont ask, dont want to think about that part...haha
Most all corals can release toxins or slime when stressed/disturbed like in shiping, ect. Best to just do normal acclimation and by the time it done, most will be clean enough to place in the tank. Colt like most leathers will do this and also often do this dureing nomal life in a tank too. Its how they go to the bathroom. Its called shedding and its normal. Best to have a slighty brisk current in the area of leathers so as to help the coral clean off the shed.

I saw a pic of your cat's view of the birds on the Ohio river and it looks like the view from close to my office in Mt. Adams.
