yeah mantis shrimps are one of the coolest things out their, once i saw a video of one kill a blue ringed octopus in seconds :scared:

they are really just misunderstood
ditto to teh second quote, they really arnt that bad, they are just being natural, but personally, the fastest animal movement in the world it friggin awesome!

yep i know a 15 gal. is a little bit to small. after the holidays i'm going to try and build him a 25-30 gal. out of acrylic.
mantis are the awsomest

They are VERY smart, and can have very beautiful color designs on them. the Peacock Mantis is just the strongest and has one of the best colorations that I know of.

How often do you feed and what do you feed. Im thinking about getting one when i go to college but i havent decided.
 
Depends on the species... smasher mantis shrimp eat gernally shrimp and other crustaceans like crabs and barnacles.. stuff like that.. spearer mantis shrimps eat mostly fish and shrimp. it's suitable to give the animals live food every once and a while, but is generally avoided as the common food source. I used to feed my smashers freezedried krill. I would try to give him food daily on a feeding stick, If he took it and then shot it out of his den, I took it out. that was his way of telling me " I dont want this"

I've searched for the video of one breaking the glass as well but I cant find it.
In other news, my Peacock Mantis just molted tonight. It freaked me out!!
