Shrimp Acclimation?

I just finished dripping 2 peppermint shrimp.
They were both normal coloration and activity in the store.
After acclimation (1.5 hours) one of them was almost completely white/transparent and the other was of normal coloration but was very lathargic. Now that they are in the tank the one that was nearly white is regaining color and is somewhat active, the other is just laying on the bottom of the tank occassionally moving his legs and pincers, but not moving around at all.
I acclimated a cleaner shrimp last weekend with this same method and the little bugger was up and active and eating immediately. Do these two kinds of shrimp acclimate differently? Does this sound normal?

It doesn't sound normal. I acclimated my peppermint for about an hour. While you were acclimating the shrimp did the tank / jug you acclimated it in stay at a constant temp? I've heard of people having issues with their jug / tank lowering in temp because of long acclimations. Just an idea.
I had no difficulties acclimating my shrimp, it stayed hidden for about a day b/c it was probably scared, but nothing out of the ordinary. How long has it been?

I have issues with my acclimation water getting cold during long acclimation periods.
He's been in my tank now for almost an hour and he's still just sitting at the bottom. He's not dead, but barely moving.

Well that could be the problem, if the temp from the bucket it was in and the tank temp are drastically different it could put the shrimp in shock. Nothing you can do about that now since its already in the tank, just turn off the lights and let it rest / relax. Hopefully by tomorrow it will be okay and moving.
In the future, possibly use a heater under the jug you are using to acclimate or a heater, try to minimize the temp difference. You could ask around for other ideas.
Keep us posted tomorrow, good luck!

Good luck,
When I placed a couple of scarlet skunk cleaners in the tank with peppermints the three peppermints went missing. Lesley

Well, the one that was limping around was starting to move around more. But as I was sitting there watching the tank, the moon lights were on and something darted out of the rock, grabbed the half dead shrimp by the face and pulled it back to the rock where it commenced to chomp on one of it's eyeballs. I have no idea WTF that was, I have never seen it before and I still didn't get a good look at it, but it gave me the chills. It may have been some sort of worm or something... I yanked the tops off the tank and reached in to grab the shrimp, of course it was dead by then with an eye missing but at least now I can take it to my LFS and get another...
I'm going to have nightmares tonight. :scared:

For temperature try acclimating in a styrofoam cooler with the top on or put a heater in a bucked with fresh water and get the temp the same and then put another bucket on top/in and acclimate in that one. Might work.
