shrimp cycle for 125gallon

ok i had the shrimp in there for 3 days its gone all that is left id the hard parts of it. my ammonia still says 0. does having 300 lbs of live rock make it that way? as for a filter i have a skimmer and cheato in the built in wet/dry also to make sure i would get a reading i put in a a hefty pinch of flake food.

added info i let the tank sit for 1 week with all the live rock in it before i added the shrimp. i dont know if that makes a difference!

you should have a shorter cycle if you used live rock that was ready to go. my cycle lasted about 3 weeks. it was seeded w/ ls and my lr had been a holding tank for a while at my lfs.

Maybe you missed the amonia spike. Are you testing for nitrites? I never used a shrimp to cycle my DT. The LR was all I used to start the cycle. I did use a shrimp for cycling my QT because I had no LR or LS in it. How much LR is in your 125?

You shouldn't have to use a shrimp. It should accelerate the cycle though. With all that LR in there you should have had all you needed to start the cycle. Like I said you may have missed the amonia spike. It might have came and went quickly. What are your nitrites testing at. They will take a longer time to go away.

Geez
All I seen was 300 lbs. of LR. Okay so you are cycling. When your trites go to zero you tank has completed it's cycle
When trites read zero you might want to do a water change to bring your nitrates down and you are good to go.
See
you did miss your ammonia spike
