yeah that one was available when I bought mine but I wanted to get the bigger one so I had better chances with it's success

That one is half the size and half the price so its all the same basically :)

Shrimpi, the tank is awsome. I wish I could take pictures that nice, but I guess it takes good models. The clam is to die for, and the mandarins....what can I say? You raise the best.

Are you fragging mushrooms in that tupperware bowl. Good idea!!!
Yeah, I put the top on the tupperware, but still cut out the top circle (you can see it in the pic) so the mushrooms can't come out as easily. Alot of times they will fly out of the bowl unless i have the top on.. but obviously it has to have a hole for some flow so I just modify it

hey all, it has been a while since Ive posted. The clam I recently received died within about 72 hours of being in the tank, to be honest I think he was dead after the first day, but took time to detach from the shell. I was given a full refund by the company, but I was really concerned about his death and wanted to make sure it wasnt my fault. Im pretty sure it was the stress from shipping, even if my tank was totally

[hr]
up I dont think I could have killed him that quick. It was a total bummer!
Anyway, here is my clown in his LTA. He has started to feed the LTA small bites of food and the LTA seems to prefer these smaller more frequent feedings rather than my feedings of larger pieces in more sparse times. The LTA is extending about 6inches now and is gaining more and more color on a weekly basis. He is definetly recovering from being bleached when I first got him!

Heres a pic of one of the mandarins (male) who has started to fill out nicely. He was quite skinny when I first obtained him. You can see his belly in this pic does not look sunken at all :) he is gaining weight and eating well. If only he would look at the camera :)

Heres some misc. coral pics, some you have seen before, but Im working on my camera skills as always, so maybe they look a little better now.

Here is a blasto frag I originally bought like 6 months ago. It was completely covered when I got it. I put it high on the rocks and it almost completely died. I think it was too bright, it wouldnt eat, etc. Now I have it in full light but on the sandbed which is about 20inches from the halide. The two polyps that were left are recovering nicely and getting plump, and a few babies have sprung up at the places where the old polyps died. Im happy he is coming back because the red is stunning!

Thanks guys, more to come :)

Wow!! AMAZING tank!!
I'm thinking about getting a Mandarin fish as well for my 28 gallon HQI nano cube. I was thinking if I get the Mandarin fish I would feed it freshly hatched baby brine shrimp and live rotifers(going to culture them). I have 66 grams of Brine Shrimp eggs. So, I'm not going to run out of them any time soon.

brine shrimp is not an adequate diet for mandarins. They contain little or no nutritional value. I feed live brine as a treat once a week. I dont think they will eat rotifiers as they are too small. They will eat amphipods, copepods, and mine love frozen and live blood worms. If you can get them to eat pellets, thats the best.
I think any mandarin will chomp down on live brine (they prefer things alive and moving) but its like feeding them a rice-cake. It is low in nutrients and they will eventually die of malnutrition. I only feed them for 'fun' and I put some cyclops in the bowl with the brine to let the brine load up on it before I offer it to the mandarins.
It takes a lot of time and dedication to keep a mandarin in a nano tank. I feed mine every day with the sea squirt(target feeder) and also, I turn the pumps off so the mandarins dont have to chase the food.
The constant target feeding is also terrible for your water so you have to at least do water changes every week. (I do 5 gal a week in my 24g tank).
Good Luck!

Hello all,
Just a few new shots.. I got a carpet anemone (small one) for the tank (yes I fell in love with him in the store) to occupy a second home for my maroon clown or anemone crab (they were fighting over the LTA!)
So I can really get some great shots of the nem crab now that he has his own carpet to play in! I know the nem will outgrow the tank, and to keep a close eye on him, but as always your comments are appreciated! He is VERY sticky and anchored WAY into the rocks on the bottom of the tank. HE is kind of sideways with his main disc/body/tentacles brushing the sand, but his foot is anchored about 5-6" into the rock just above the sand surface. Im really enjoying him. (still working on a positive ID, I will get some pics up of just the nem very soon).
And I recently got a very small (1"?) twinspot goby to handle the sand.
Here you go!

Happy reefing!
