Anybody know whats on my puffer?? Its like one of the porcupines needle on the puffer swell up. It started probably 2 weeks ago and slowly got bigger. He eats and acts fine. Any suggestions?? Somebody said to freshwater dip him but i dont think its a parasite well i hope not.
Hmm sorry thats probably the best i can do. The puffer hides when i try to take his pic. But its seems like its actully bigger today. I dont know if this pic will help. He still seems like thers nothin wrong w/ him.
Yeah, with the exception of the salinity, because I do not know what the "safe" zone is on the hydrometer. Some of them state the "safe zone" too low. However, that is probably not the issue.
Is anything picking on this fish?
Nope. His behavior seems fine too. He eats and swims around. I went to the place where i bought him to sell them back some damsels and the guy said its a disease that sometimes these puffers go though when transfering him and it will eventully fall off it. He spit out some long name but to me it sounded like Shiat. O ya this guy also told me that copper in my main tank was ok. Soo that says alot.
Its hard to tell without a good shot of it. Could it possibly be lymphocyctis?
Look at him through a magnifying glass and see it it appears like this more attached, rather than swollen. What are you feeding him, and how often?
I would first recommend you pick up 3 or 4 more different seafoods to add to his diet. Feeding a fish one thing is like you only eating the same type chicken dinner. No variety, and it gets kinda boring (plus it becomes unhealthy to have the samr thing).
Feed twice a day and as lioncrazz suggests, improve that diet with more variety. Also, you need to add a hard-shelled food item to keep the fish's teeth filed down. Do a bit of research into the particular died needs of puffers.
