My Yellow tang and clowns both have a wierd problem with their tail fins, and the tang also has this with its dorsal fin. They seem to be eroding away!!! why is this happening? the fish act and eat perfectly normal!

Sounds like poor nutrition...not addressing the specific needs of the fish. What are you feeding them, and how often? Please post up your water readings, and give a few details about how your tank is set up, tank size, etc.

well since i have been noticing this i have been feeding them everyday instead of everyother. I feed mysis, green marine algae and veggie rounds. I gotta check my water readings, but i think they should be fine. And about feeding, for the past week i now have been feeding mysis and green marine algae or veggie rounds. Thats two meals a day........so do you think this should help?

Do you have live rock, live sand? Feed at least 2 meals, and vary the meals, adding more quality foods that are non-flake. Also, soak 1 meal a day in zoecon just before feeding.

Yes i have live rock and live sand. Ive never been told to feed that much........the only reason i am overfeeding is because i dont think i was feeding them enough so i want my fish to eat alot for the next few weeks. what does zoecon do?

be sure water quality is good thats also very important in their recovery ..if your looking for a dry food that is nutritionally ballenced i feed my fish thera+a pellets by spectrum 3 times per day and then alternate days with frozen prepared foods for them emerald entrese would be a good choise for both species of fish.and yes the diet will help with fin regrowth

IMO fish should be fed a very varried and nutritious diet. Formula frozen foods, and all supplimented with Vitamines. With proper water conditions and nutritious diet no meds are needed for the fish to heal.

I think it was just the fact that i started feeding once every 2 days....sometimes 3. I read that was the healthiest way (obviously not). THe first nine months i had my tank i fed them only mysis and green algae and all my fish were VERy healthy looking. Im not gonna go and buy tons of different foods cause i know if i just get back to regualr feeding it should go well. I will get vitamins though.

Your fish should be fed once per day, a variety of different frozen formula foods. Fish may "live" on one or two, but they will not thrive without variety. Some people feed their fish twice per day, but the morning feeding is small, and the majority of the nutrition is in the evening when the fish are most active. The use of vitamines will help your fish greatly.

man, i read that feeding your fish twice per day is way to much, i think it may actually. Maybe i will try this for a little bit and see how it goes.
