sick tang

I can see red at the bottom and on the nose of my yellow tang. It looks like the blood in his veins, very dark red. He was fine last night, but he won't move out of this one spot and will not eat the frozen brine shimp I have fed him for months. I also just noticed todays that there was little white things stuck to the glass all over the tank. I have done some searches and I know it is not a sprial shape, it's more like a piece of fuss, very easy to remove with a magnite, and does not move just flows in the water current.
Do you think that the white spots and the problem with the tang are related?
What is wrong with my tang?
What are the white spots on my glass?
The white spots are too small to get a pic of :help: :help:

Sounds like you have water quality issues. Yellow tangs will get the reddish areas due to poor water quality. ASk and answer the following questions Are you over feeding? Do you have brisk circulation? Are you protein skimming? How often and how much water do you change?
Brine shrimp has very little nutritional value. Try feeding him Mysis Shrimp and he needs plenty greens in his diet. Seaweed selects or Nori form the grocery will work. Soak the food in vitamins along with some garlic too....Selcon is a good .
Test ALL your water parameters. I would make a susbstantial water change but do so carefully so you do not stress the animal further.
I believe what you are seeing on the glass is pods...not the problem.

your yellow tang is entering a severe stage of bacterial infection. If you don't quarantine her now, you might as well kiss her goodbye! takes over very quickly

I don't have a choice now he has gone to the slugs and I have no type of fuge for him to go in so the question is would it be worse to take him out of water and let him die or let the snail have their way? This is my first saltwater fish to die I might have to shed a tear

All my levels seem to be fine ph 8.1 ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 20, temp 79, sal 1.023. I have plenty of water movement and I do a 20% change of r/o water every 2 weeks.
Should I worry about my 2 clowns and the anemone? what else should I check for?? :needhelp:

thats painfull to watch! get her out and flush her. I would do a very large waterchange in your system about 50%. this is a water quality issue! do you have a skimmer?

I had him for at least 2 months or more. Always been very active and would come right up to the turkey baster when it was feeding time.

the problem is water quality, and a skimmer helps with quality. thats why i asked. how long has that skimmer been running and what kind is it. thats about the amt of waste mine collects after about 1 day.

ok i found the problem... your profile says your tank is a 20 gal is this correct. If so #1 problem. tangs need at least 4ft of swimming room if small, and 6ft if they are getting large. 29 gal is way to small to house a strong swiimming fish

So do you think I should still do the 50% water change.
Do you really think that would cause an infection in no more than 3 days because I never noticed the redness before. It is a real shame too because I just bought a used 55gal, but I have no where in the house to set it up right now.
Here is the skimmer

Variety of frozen foods will work..some prepared marine flake food. ...but not frozen brine. Vary the diet...do not always feed one food continuously. Soak the food in vitamis such as Selcon too...plus a little garlic. Your snails should eat algae and detritus. THe clown sometimes will carry food to the anemone...but it may require some weekly spot feeding. Anemones require mature tanks with strong lighting. Star will need to be spot fed too....but they do better in mature systems with plenty live rock.
