sick yt with white stuff on eye

Well I wanted the purple or a salifin, but I saw a little YT cramped in a 20g tank at the LFS and got him for my 60g. I aclimated him for about an hour and a half, and put him in the tank. I left the lights off while aclimating, and all night too. This morning I noticed the the YT had a white film starting to infect its eye. What do I do?
Now 0 ammonia; 0 nitrite; 12.5 nitrate; 14 dKh; salinity 1.025....the temp is between 80-82...tank has 50lbs of LR been set up for about a month
I have flake food, frozen variety food, and marine seaweed. I am soaking this food in garlic, but as you can imagine the tang has been in my tank for less than a day and is not eating a lot.

Well, not quarantining a new fish is a mistake, particularly tangs that tend to have ich and also tend to be more sensitive to disease invoking problems.
Also, tangs should not be intro-ed into brand new systems.
That said, since you have LR, there is no medication that you can use for treatment in your tank.
Offer the fish varied quality foods, use zoecon to soak the food, or you can do the garlic soaks. You may need to set up a QT if this develops into a bacterial infection. The fish may also have ich, as cloudy eyes is often a prelude to ich.
You should get a grounding probe if you are going to keep tangs, if you don’t already have one.

The tang is the only fish in the tank so it cannot infect anything else, which is one good point...
I did get a grounding probe already..
Have several different types of frozen food, flake, and seaweed marine cusine or something like that. I've been soaking the stuff in garlic for about 20 min. before feeding...
I hope that the garlic and lots of food variety will solve the problem...

Tangs need continueous grazing, which you're not going to get in a new tank. Feed frequently, particularly with quality algae products.
Use fresh minced garlic, making sure that you cut the garlic up in the same container that the fish food is going to be in so that you retain the garlic juice.
Also, if you can get zoecon, alternate food soaks with this.

A little YT in a 20 gal is not so bad as fully grown [10"] YT in a tiny cubile [2gal or so] where the fish could not even turn around. I saw this at my LPS a few mos ago. It was a very sad sight to see. That fish was in there for at least 2 wks that I know of.

Beth,
I took a good look at the tang this morning when the lights came on and his eye is not white anymore...I feed another 3 x 3 piece of seaweed soaked in garlic. The tang is very timid for some reason ... it spends most of its time hiding behind the rocks when its not eating, is this normal??? It does shake every so often which leads me to believe that it has a parasite of some kind, but I've dealt with that before on my clowns. Just going to keep feeding seaweed and flake soaked in garlic and maybe some frozen brine too.

YTs are extremely high-strung, particularly when new. Likely this fish could use a course of hyposalinity, but you don't have a QT.
All you can really do is what you are doing, unless you set up a QT. Don't add any new fish at this point no matter how tempted you are.

no I dont plan on adding any new fish, just because I dont want anymore problems until the tang is better and more confortable..

Good news. But do try and offer the fish more variety in food, maybe even fresh foods.
