for a 90G tank, you really need metal halides, T5HO will work, as long as you have individually reflected bulbs, but, MH will be MUCH better

look up "durso" on google for how to quiet the drain lol.
Depending on the type of reef you want to keep, If you want a mixed reef go 2x250w MH... If you want SPS&clams on the sandbed all over the tank even near the bottom go 2x400w MH (and get ready to run a chiller.)
Whats the diameter of the drain pipe and return pipe? I don't think that return pump is powerful enough for your application... because you want at least 10x turnover AFTER headloss off the overflow and return unless the drain limits you i.e. only 1inch drain which will only flow 600gph. Which "750gph" return pump did you get?
To be honest, wait on the skimmer for now.. right.. I said WAIT!.. If you hook up a turf scrubber, that'll oxygenate the water and unless you go overboard with fish you won't need the organic removing capabilities of a skimmer.
I'd have about 125-150lbs of liverock in there IMO. It won't look like a rock tank either since its tall. 3 big islands would be cool with one touching or near the overflow box except right new the bottom because there's two inlets on the overflow and you don't want to block either one and then try not to touch any sides of the glass with the rock to maximize flow and surface area of the rock... put a bunch of openings, holes, and caves in your scaping once again to maximize flow and surface area also makes the tank more interesting for fish and corals have more places to be placed.
Good luck bro, I know this tank isn't gonna be a dud like the walmart 55... it's gonna be awesome.

make sure on the holes..believe it or not... 1.25 FLOWS way more than 1inch. Have any idea for what kinds of corals you want to keep yet?

3 islands will look good man I'll tellin ya.. and then you can have a bunch of different spots to put corals... lets face it, rock all along the back wall is boring and inefficient use of space.
P.S. I'll always remember the walmart 55, that was hilarious.. you're definitely making a good comeback though.
